1 person has this problem

solved.

sudoers should not be world writable.

Hi Mike,

Well done on finding that. Thanks for posting the solution here. Yes Jaksta needs sudo access to install a local proxy server to run as a daemon.

Thanks,

Ben

Hi there,

How do I get sudoers not to be world writable? I've looked around on the Internet but couldn't find any viable solution.

Thanks.

Hi Céline,

Sorry for the slow response times over the Christmas break.

I would first check that you definitely have the same problem as Mike did - this is the case if you can start the Console app and see the same "root : /etc/sudoers is world writable" messages after a failed attempt to install Jaksta.

The solution to this involves editing the permissions of the file /etc/sudoers. However I would recommend caution with this as you can cause bigger problems on your machine if you get it wrong. If you still want to get ahead here is what to do:

First start a terminal by typing "terminal" into spotlight at the top right of the screen.

Then type this command into the terminal and press enter:

chmod 440 /etc/sudoers

It's important to get this exactly right - I would copy paste it directly from here (I just did it on my machine first to be sure!).

You can close the terminal after this. Also if you get an error message to the effect of "permission denied" then it's probably already correct.

Thanks,
Ben
