Multiple Download Instances In Jaksta (on a Mac)

I am using Jaksta 1.5.2  I hit the file/stream play button just once and I get it, and 4 others downloading.  If I try to cancel and delete the extra 4, they disappear out of the download status window, but behind the scenes continue to download and re-appear as complete, when finished.

Hi Mark,

Sorry for the slow response times over the Christmas break.

Are you able to send us links to a couple of specific videos which cause this issue? Is it only one specific site that does this?

Can you send the log file to us after the next time this occurs? (including the reappearing in the list) You can find it by going to the Preferences and clicking Find Log File.

Thanks,
Ben

I have had this problem on YouTube, but cannot get it to repeat itself today.

Hi Mark,

Sorry for the delay again.

Thanks for the log and link. I have been able to reproduce the multiple files issue from here - we do our best to identify multiple versions of the same video and pick one of them (we can usually do this well with YouTube for instance) but it does not always work perfectly with every site.

I haven't been able to reproduce downloading in the background after cancellation however. Can you say how you cancelled the video - just by clicking the X next to the filename in the list? Have you every seen this happen since then - you cancel a file but it later suddenly pops up finished?

Also what browser are you using? Do you see the same problems in Firefox?

Thanks,

Ben

I'm using Jaksta Version 2.0.0 (219) and my OS is Sierra 10.12.4

Downloading just one stream causes multiple versions of the same stream to be captured.  Often as many as 5.  This causes me problems when I wish to download a second stream, as it has to complete downloading all of the others first.  Even if I stop and delete the other streams whilst they are at the downloading stage, yes they delete, but they then come back in the Jaksta.

This doesn’t happen on all website, but alway on Alluc.

Log file is attached.  What’s the solution?

Hi Mark,

I am able to successfully download and view the video that you linked to previously, so it is most likely your system that is the source of the problem and not the site.

I would suggest starting with a reinstall and see if that helps. There may be a break in the programs processes, so a reinstall should reset and fix it.

Re-install what.  Jaksta or my OS?  How do I carry out this?

Hi Mark,

You should only need to reinstall Jaksta.

Just drag the program from Applications to the trash bin to uninstall, reboot the Mac and then run the installer.

Where will I find the installer. Will I require any key code or password?

Hi Mark,

You can get the installer off the Downloads page on the website: https://www.jaksta.com/download/mac/jaksta-media-recorder

It will start automatically.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the log file.

Can you please let me know if you get this problem for any and all videos (youTube, Vimeo etc.), or just the tv shows and movies that you are trying to stream and capture?
