Jaksta Crashes, Breaks my internet connection and won't download RTMP Streams

Hi Guys,

I've been using this software for months now and it's been great!

But when I tried using it last, it became useless.

Sometimes when I start up Jaksta Version 1.5.1 (205) it has tuned on two proxies in my macs network settings that effectively break my internet connection or prompt me continuously for a certificate on either Safari or Firefox. No other applications are able to successfully connect to the internet either.

Then if the internet is working, the website that I'm trying to download from, which has worked fine for the past three months, Jaksta tells me that it cannot download the RTMP stream. Sometimes it will let me download one video before it stops working again and giving me the error.

Please let me know what can be done to resolve this issue.

macOS Sierra

v: 10.12.4 Beta (16E154a)

Macbook Pro (15-inch, 2016)

Processor: 2.6GHz i7

Memory: 16gb

Hi Taylor,

Firstly, you could also try the site with "Always Record HTTP" and "Always Record RTMP" enabled in the Streaming tab in the Preferences.  This records the exact same data that the browser receives, instead of asking the website for its own copy. Some sites can only be captured like this. You need to leave the video running while capturing with these options enabled, so it's best to turn them off afterwards.

If that doesn't help at all (and even if it doesn't), then you could try updating Jaksta and see if that makes a difference. It looks as if you may not be running the latest version.

If the problem continues, can you send us the log file the next time it occurs? You can find it by going to the Preferences and clicking the Find Log File button.

Also, if you are running a VPN, try turning it off as that can sometimes cause problems.

Hi Liam,

Sorry for my late reply. I haven't had time to work on this.

I do have both options selected, and always have. I always have the video run while it's downloading.

I have had Jaksta check for updates as well as deleted it and installed a new copy, nothing worked. Jaksta has also been crashing a lot more frequently.

Hi Taylor,

Are you running a VPN at all? Your issue is definitely proxy related, and sometimes a VPN can cause a problem. The log file says that it has detected a VPN, but that could be a false positive if you are not using one.

It looks as if your download and conversion locations are set to the desktop, which should be fine. Are you running Jaksta from the top level in your Applications folder? If you are not, move it to the top level and see if that makes a difference.

Hi Liam,

I am not currently using a VPN. It's been removed from my machine.

Yes, it is running from the top level in my application folder. I'm still experiencing the same issues.

Thanks,

Taylor

Hi Taylor,

I should have noticed this before, but it may be because you are running the 10.12.4 Beta version of macOS.

Often the newest betas create problems with Jaksta and the proxie/internet settings. I would suggest either downgrading back to 12.3 or waiting for the next Jaksta update to accomodate the newest OS.

Apart from that, I cannot suggest anything else.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi Liam,

I'm currently running non-beta software. I just did an update to 2.0, but now I have to pay to use it? I tested it to see if it would download, still the same issue. Now I'm not even able to use the version that I've paid for!

I'm seriously starting to get frustrated with this software. It WAS great, now it's just causing me nothing but headaches.

Taylor

Hi Taylor,

We have just gone live with 2.0 this morning and there was a couple of issues that we are in the process of sorting.

I will have it sorted for you very soon.

Once we do get the 2.0 version fully activated and running on your device, if you do encounter the same problem then it may just be your Mac setup that is causing the conflict. But we'll see what we can do.

Hi Liam,

Thank you for the quick reply.

I purchased this software likely 4 months ago, the entire bundle. Now I'm being asked to pay again for version 2.0, without being prompted that installing the update would then require additional payment.

Now I can't access 1.5.x to use for anything else, plus 2.0 still doesn't solve the issue. So I'm quite confused as to what to do next as you don't even allow downloads of pervious versions.

Unless you're giving me a complimentary copy of 2.0? I'm not sure what you're suggesting.

Thanks again,

Taylor

Hi Taylor,

Yes in this instance that is what I am suggesting.

Can you please supply your email address so that I can send you an activation email as well as find you in our records system?

If need be I can always send you an installer for V 1.5.1 if you do want to revert for whatever reason.

Hi Taylor,

The offer has been processed and you should receive an activation email shortly.

I noticed that the name on the account is different to the name you have here - Taylor.

I hope that won't cause any problems and I have gotten those details correct.

Let me know if that is the case and I will make the necessary changes.

If you have any problems let me know and hopefully this update will resolve the issues you have been experiencing

I am going to delete your response before this one so that your email address is no longer public.
