This site can’t provide a secure connection ERR_SSL_SERVER_CERT_BAD_FORMAT

When I go to any site now where Jaksta used to work, I keep getting an error like this:

This site can’t provide a secure connection

www.youtube.com doesn't adhere to security standards.

ERR_SSL_SERVER_CERT_BAD_FORMAT

I'm running Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.1 and Jaksta Version 1.5.0 (202)

Hi Crystal,

Start by updating to the last build of Version 1 that we released and then let me know if the problem continues.

You can get the installer here: http://download.shedworx.com/jaksta/beta/1.5.1_00/Jaksta-1.5.1.pkg

I would suggest doing a full reinstall as well.

What you will need to do is delete the app (uninstall) from Applications instead of just reinstalling over it. Then in Finder go to the top menu and then access Go > (holding one of shift/alt/control/command) Library > Application Support > Jaksta Media Recorder and delete that folder (NOTE: doing this will erase your library file list in Jaksta, but your downloaded/converted files will remain intact). Reboot the Mac and then do a reinstall of the latest version (https://www.jaksta.com/download/mac/jaksta-media-recorder) and it will regenerate a new copy of the deleted folder and the application files.

So I don't get that error any more, but it only records video, not sound.  Any other thoughts?  Thanks.

Hi Crystal,

I would say that the best solution will most likely be to upgrade to Version 2. You may have already seen the upgrade prompts in your current version for it.

Version 2 is a PAID upgrade that we released earlier this year, but it is not mandatory. There is a discounted upgrade offer for existing license holders, which can be accessed by following the prompts in the update checker pop-up notification.

Please be aware that we will not be releasing any more updates for Version 1, as we are focusing our development on Version 2.

You can always try running it in demo mode first before purchasing it, and see if that resolves the issue.

Alternatively you can upload a clean log file here and a link to an example of a problem video/site, and I can test and investigate it.

To get a clean log, you will need to do the following:

- Open JMR

- Go to Preferences > General > Find Log File

- Close JRM but keep the Finder window with the log file open

- Delete the log file and still keep the Finder window open

- Reopen JMR (this will generate a new log file)

- Run one test on a standard video stream that you know gives an error/fails

- Close JMR once it fails or wait until it crashes

- Go back to the Finder window with the new log file and attach it here (don't copy and paste the code in it - send the file itself)
